Case Study: Intuit

The Challenge

Due to the volume of web pages and content, a Fortune 500 global financial software company that develops and sells financial, accounting, and tax preparation software was finding it impossible to monitor and enforce content compliance in real-time. Multiplied was hired to enforce accuracy in the lead generation process across five different international markets to ensure each geography is utilizing content designed for that specific market.

The Plan

Assemble a team of experts in content search capabilities and UI design to identify an architecture that can scale exponentially to search thousands of web sites and receive dynamic search input criteria by marketing and business users. Utilize standard Agile development practices to drive two-week sprint cycles and Trello Storyboards to allow the non-technical team members to collaborate during the life of the project.

The Solution

Multiplied provided index and content search capabilities over a collection of enterprise web sites based on Sling and Jackrabbit frameworks backed by MongoDB. We developed a high-performance web crawler that was capable of walking through thousands of enterprise web sites within a two-hour window to identify all pages that were out of compliance. The results were delivered in a summarized portal with drill down reporting that exposed the detail files that needed to be corrected for markup violations. The solution was implemented for scalability and security with a micro-services oriented architecture.

The Multiplied Result

A highly scalable, multi-threaded architecture solution with the ability to crawl thousands of web pages to identify geographic-specific HTML content inconsistencies that impact lead to opportunity conversion rates.  By identifying the HTML content anomalies, the client was able to improve the lead to opportunity conversion rate by 17% in the first 6 months after implementing the web crawler solution.
